Verifiable research & software
Can someone else follow the result all the way back?
What I am examining
I study how an investigation can retain its inputs, assumptions, code, environment, and revisions. The aim is continuity: another person should be able to move from a claim to the material that supports it and see where each conclusion entered the work.
Why it matters
Software and AI can produce more material than a person can casually inspect. I am interested in methods that make important claims easier to check and make the scope of each check visible.
What the evidence must establish
I look for independent reproduction, informative failure cases, and an exact account of what a check establishes. Identifying an artifact, verifying a formal statement, and validating an experimental conclusion require different evidence.
The comparison
Version control, reproducible builds, proof assistants, and signatures each address part of the problem. I investigate how those parts can preserve a coherent record from the first observation to a result someone else can examine.
