Private AI systems
An answer has a history. I want the system to account for it.
What I am examining
I investigate local AI systems that retrieve knowledge, retain context, and act within defined permissions. I want to follow an answer back through the information the model received, the memory it used, and the assumptions it made along the way.
Why it matters
An organization should be able to use its knowledge without surrendering control of it. I am interested in assistants whose sources, dependencies, and authority can be inspected by the people responsible for them.
What the evidence must establish
I examine answer quality alongside source fidelity, permission isolation, response time, and maintenance. Retrieval and action need separate tests: finding the right document does not establish that the system should be allowed to act on it.
The comparison
Local models and retrieval systems provide the starting comparisons. My work follows their behavior when memory, uncertainty, and permissions become part of the same decision.
